Tate Modern asked what data might look like if it became art. We answered with a £2 plastic windmill and one of the biggest gallery spaces in the world.

At one end of the Turbine Hall, visitors discover a small, gloriously tacky beach windmill. Blow on it and its monumental twin, mounted high on the opposite wall, begins to turn. The harder you blow, the faster it spins — transforming a tiny human gesture into an architectural-scale spectacle.

Behind the apparent simplicity, live data connects the two objects in real time. But the technology was never the star. The magic was in the contrast: disposable plastic against monumental concrete, playground familiarity at impossible scale.
